QUALIFYING ROUNDS
The Dofus World Cup begins with Swiss rounds qualifier. All registered teams have 13 matches to play over the first 5 days. The Swiss rounds system matches by draw teams with the same number of wins and losses in each round. The draw for a round can therefore only be made once all the results of the previous round are known, so during match days teams only know their opponents shortly before the matches.
During the rounds, the draft letter for each match is determined as follows: if a team had less often the choice than its opponent in its previous matches, then it has the letter choice for the match. If both teams had so much choice in their previous matches, then the letter choice is randomly assigned.
A victory earns 3 Tournament Points, a draw earns 1 Tournament Point, a defeat earns no Tournament Points.
The classification criteria are in order of priority: Tournament Points > Percentage of Victory of Opponents encountered (PVA) > Direct result between the teams > Best team defeated.
The PVA is calculated by dividing the sum of all the victories won by the teams encountered by the number of matches played by these teams. For example, after 3 rounds, if the teams encountered have 3/3, 2/3 and 0/3 victories, the PVA is 5/9 = 55.56%. A draw counts as half a victory in the calculation.
The PVA is used to illustrate the difficulty of a course, by giving the advantage to teams who have faced the strongest teams.
Not being present on the draft of the first round leads to an immediate discalification of the tournament. Thereafter, forfeiting 2 matches in the entire tournament will lead to a disqualification, unless in exceptional circumstances explained to a staff member on Discord.
PLAYOFFS
The 64 best teams in qualifiers are qualified in playoffs. These are structured around a classic combat tree, where the 1st fight the 64th, the 2nd the 63rd, etc.
Until the RO16, the matches are played in 2 winning games (BO3) and there is 15 minutes of preparation after the end of the drafts.
From the quarter finals, matches are played in 3 winning games (BO5) and there is 10 minutes of preparation after the end of the drafts.
From the quarter finals:
- matches are played in 3 winning games (BO5) and there is 10 minutes of preparation after the end of the drafts
- forfeit linked to lateness are withdrawn. The first delay is a warning, and the following ones apply a 5% penalty to the amount of the cashprize won by the team. Every 3 minutes after the sanction of a delay, an additional delay will be distributed if the team is still not ready.
- chaque équipe être dans le salon vocal qui lui est assigné sur le serveur Discord du KTA durant chacun de ses matchs (draft et préparation inclue)
- each team must be in their assigned voice room on the KTA Discord server during each of their games (draft and preparation included)
The highest ranked team in the qualifiers has the choice of the draft letter for the odd games, and the other team has it for the even games.
From match 2, the drafts must be thrown within 10 minutes of the end of the previous game, without possible delay.
FINAL
The final will be played in a LAN, at the Arena Level 256 in Paris, on Saturday 23/03 at 3pm.
The KTA will pay up to 200€ per player for travelling expenses. A transfer of the budget of a player for another of the team could be considered depending on the situation. Any additional costs will either be paid by the participants or deducted from their share of the cash prize.
At least one member of each team must be able to attend the event. If a team is unable to attend, it will be disqualified and will not receive any award from the tournament. In this case, the team they beat in the semi-final will be called back for a retake. If this new team is unable to attend, then another team will be called back in the part of the tree of the absent team, with as criterion elimination phase > ranking in rounds.
